Read EPUB Books in Your Browser

This is not a preview widget. It opens a standard .epub and gives you the things a reading app is for: a chapter sidebar with your position highlighted, whole-book search, highlights in four colours, bookmarks, read-aloud over any chapter range, adjustable typography, four themes, three view modes, and fullscreen. The one thing it does not do is phone home: the book stays on your device.

The file is parsed and rendered by epub.js, an open-source reader engine, running entirely inside your browser tab. Chapters, search, highlights, and read-aloud all operate on the copy in memory. Nothing is uploaded, so there is no server copy to leak or delete, and closing the tab removes every trace. To check, open your browser's Network tab and watch a book open with zero requests for your file.

It reads standard, DRM-free EPUB files: classics from public-domain libraries, books from DRM-free stores, and files you have converted yourself. It does not open Kindle formats (AZW, KFX, MOBI are different containers) and it cannot unlock EPUBs protected with Adobe DRM, because breaking that encryption is neither possible in a browser nor legal in most places. A tool that pretended otherwise would be lying to you.

Books ship with their own typography, and it is often wrong for your eyes or your screen. The settings panel overrides it cleanly.

Drop your .epub file onto the reader or click to select it, and the book opens right away. Jump between chapters from the sidebar, turn pages with the arrow keys, and pick up where the slider takes you. Everything runs in your browser.

No. The book is opened and rendered in your browser with epub.js, so the file never reaches a server. You can check: open your browser's developer tools, watch the Network tab, and open a book. You will see no upload.

No, and it is worth being plain about. Kindle formats (AZW, KFX, MOBI) are not EPUB files, and EPUBs locked with Adobe DRM cannot be decrypted by this reader. It opens standard, DRM-free .epub files, which covers most classics, indie stores, and files you have converted yourself.

Yes. The search panel in the sidebar scans every chapter on your device and lists matches with their chapter names. Click a result to jump straight to it, highlighted in the text.

Yes, two ways. Select any passage and press the speaker button to hear just that text, or open the read-aloud panel in the sidebar, pick a start and end chapter, and let it read the range with pause and resume controls. Voices installed on your device are preferred; if your browser only offers cloud voices, it sends the text to its own voice service to speak it.

Yes. Select text to highlight it in one of four colours, and bookmark any page from the toolbar. Both live in the sidebar so you can jump back to them. They exist only in this tab and are cleared when you close the book, so nothing about your reading is stored.

Yes. The settings panel controls font family, size, and weight, line, letter, and word spacing, paragraph indent, margins, justification, and hyphenation. Four themes cover light, sepia, dark, and night, and the whole reader follows the theme you pick.

Yes, three: single pages, a two-page spread when the reader is wide enough, and continuous vertical scrolling. Switching modes keeps your place in the book.

Yes. The reader runs in any modern browser on iPhone, Android, iPad, or desktop. The sidebar becomes a drawer on small screens, and there is nothing to install.

Yes. The export button saves the book's text as a .txt file or a plain-text PDF, and your highlights and bookmarks as a Markdown notes file. The PDF is honestly labeled: it carries the text, not the book's original layout.

No fixed limit. The book is processed on your device, so very large files simply take as long as your hardware needs. Most EPUBs are small and open in a moment.
